<B>A Spiritual Roadmap </B><I> Walking the Path in the Twenty-first Century</I>, BURTON, MICHAEL HEDLEY
1 A Spiritual Roadmap Walking the Path in the Twenty-first Century
BURTON, MICHAEL HEDLEY
1621481603 / 9781621481607
An investigation into the "threshold" - what it is, how humanity is meeting it today, and how it can be crossed.

"I am being driven forward
into an unknown land.
The pass grows steeper,
the air colder and sharper.
A wind from my unknown goal
stirs the strings
of expectation.

Still the question:
will I ever get there?
There where life resounds,
a clear, pure note
in the silence."
- Dag Hammarskjöld

The phrase "walk the path" is a metaphor for the life journey of those who aim toward spiritual illumination. We all have our own unique journey in life, and no one can walk that path for us or prescribe the way we should go. Nevertheless, we sometimes encounter a fellow traveler along the way with whom insights and experiences can be shared. There is much to discuss, because today we can no longer rely on the dogmas and orthodoxies of human history. Spiritual illumination today demands a path of knowledge without preconception and fixed worldviews.

This book is written for those who have come to the point of deciding that the best thing they can do for the good of the earth and for their own fulfillment is to approach life as a quest for self-knowledge and true inner freedom. For them, this book will be an invaluable roadmap and guide for the many important milestones and crossroads we encounter in life. Michael Burton offers seven chapters that echo the seven stages of the alchemical process of illumination. It is written in such a way that it not only imparts information but also engages the reader’s life of feeling and will. No one can read this book and not be challenged to walk the path toward inner transformation.

New Zealander Michael Burton is based in Sydney and works as a writer, speech performer, actor, speech therapist, and voice teacher. He is the writer of the script for an international project to perform a play that follows on from the four initiation dramas of Rudolf Steiner. He gives performances in a number of countries of his one-man drama, Shakespeare and the Mystery of the Human Being (2003).

This lecture cycle presents the most accessible and illuminating of Steiner's revelations with regard to Christ, and his significance for humanity's spiritual development. He discusses the link between Buddha and the life of Christ, a description that unites Buddhism and Christianity, not in theory but in perceived spiritual deeds of these two figures. Utilizing a historical overview, revealing the relationship between the great religious traditions, and how they have conspired together for the good of humanity, Steiner never loses sight of the Gospel's great inner meaning, as echoed in the Gospel of St. Luke: "The revelation of the spiritual worlds from the Heights and its answering reflection from the hearts of men brings peace to all whose purpose upon the evolving Earth is to unfold good will."

3 According to Matthew The Gospel of Christ's Humanity
STEINER, RUDOLF, CREEGER, C.
0880105046 / 9780880105040 2003 Paperback
"If we read [Steiner's] lectures with an open and attentive inner eye, we may be able to see the Christ mystery, not as a collection of dogmas or facts, but as a spiritual impulse that stretches far beyond the limits of Christ's own time and even of the lifespan of Christianity itself. We may even catch a glimpse of the high powers that govern the life of civilizations and of the great entity known as the human race." -Richard Smoley (from the introduction) For centuries people have been baffled by the varying accounts of Christ's life as presented in the four Gospels and have struggled to reconcile them. In these profound and stimulating lectures, Steiner addresses this conundrum. He shows how each of the Gospels presents a different lens onto Christ's life and message. Here Steiner reveals the Gospel of Matthew as the one that emphasizes Christ's humanity. But he does not stop there; his visionary perspective traces Christ's life and message to spiritual impulses that go back centuries, even millennia, to the legendary civilization of Atlantis, to the mysterious Zarathustra, and to the Jewish sect known as the Essenes.
An introduction by Richard Smoley, author of Inner Christianity, puts Steiner's vision into perspective for modern readers. Once you have experienced Steiner's powerful exploration of Matthew, you will never see the Gospels in the same way again.

4 Agriculture An Introductory Reader
STEINER, RUDOLF, VON ARNIM, C.
1855841134 / 9781855841130 2003 Paperback
Rudolf Steiner, the often undervalued, multifaceted genius of modern times, contributed much to the regeneration of culture. In addition to his philosophical teachings, he provided ideas for the development of many practical activities including education -- both general and special -- agriculture, medicine, economics, architecture, science, religion, and the arts. Today there are thousands of schools, clinics, farms, and many other organizations based on his ideas.Steiner's original contribution to human knowledge was based on his ability to conduct spiritual research, the investigation of metaphysical dimensions of existence. With his scientific and philosophical training, he brought a new systematic discipline to the field, allowing for conscious methods and comprehensive results. A natural seer from childhood, he cultivated his spiritual vision to a high degree, enabling him to speak with authority on previously veiled mysteries of life.Topics include: the evolving human being; cosmos as the source of life; plants and the living earth; farms and the realms of nature; bringing the chemical elements to life; soil and the world of spirit; supporting and regulating life processes; spirits of the elements; nutrition and vitality; responsibility for the future.

5 Agriculture Course The Birth of the Biodynamic Method
STEINER, RUDOLF, ADAMS, G.
1855841487 / 9781855841482 2004 Paperback
With these talks, Steiner created and launched "biodynamic farming", a form of agriculture that has come to be regarded as the best organically produced food. However, the agriculture Steiner speaks of here is much more than organic - it involves working with the cosmos, with the earth, and with spiritual beings. To facilitate this, Steiner prescribes specific "preparations" for the soil, as well as other distinct methods born from his profound understanding of the material and spiritual worlds. He presents a comprehensive picture of the complex dynamic relationships at work in nature and gives basic indications of the practical measures needed to bring them into full play.

In a summary of present day social and economic conditions, Beh-Aharon points out the dire consequences of America ignoring its obligations as set forth in the Declaration of Independence. He goes on to explain how the destructive effects of globalisation can be stopped, and progressive social structures introduced. Using a concept developed by Rudolf Steiner -- the actualization of the individual -- he explains how the world arrived at its current state and how an understanding of America's role in the globalisation process will help achieve cultural and spiritual freedom, political equality and economic cooperation in the world.

At Passiontide 2004, Judith von Halle received the stigmata - the duplication on her body of the wounds of Christ. Following a period of careful consideration, she eventually decided to share this intimate occurrence with a small group in Berlin in Michaelmas of that year. The phenomenon of the stigmata is usually either seen as a sheer miracle or is simply denied. In contrast, in her first lectures here, she attempts to arrive at a clear understanding of it - based on the spiritual scientific knowledge of Rudolf Steiner - and its significance for one's personal destiny. As a consequence of receiving the stigmata, von Halle began to experience the events of the life of Christ in full, sensory detail. In addition, she has explored these events by means of spiritual-scientific research methods - sometimes referred to as 'continuity of consciousness'. In the further five lectures of this volume, she offers a commentary to the "Mystery of Golgotha", the turning-point in world history. Her intention is to stimulate the reader to reflect patiently and repeatedly upon this great Mystery, and to enter into an ever closer relationship to Christ.

10 And the Earth Becomes a Sun The Mystery of the Resurrection
PROKOFIEFF, SERGEI
0946206775 / 9780946206773 Hardback
In the transformation of the physical body through Christ, the seed for the future spiritualization of the world was laid, and through the re-creation of the phantom, the ego of the human being finds its redemption. The appearance of the young man at the grave (Mark 16.5) is testimony to the cosmic process in which the earth will gradually be transformed into a new sun. The connection of Christ to the earth’s aura during the period of darkness on the Golgotha Hill, established the basis by which people since then can always find him during their lives on earth. By Christ going through death, something meaningful was given to the world, not only for humanity, but also for the gods, or hierarchies.

This new publication is a continuation of the book written by Sergei Prokofieff The Mystery of the Resurrection in the Light of Anthroposophy, published in 2008. In studying Rudolf Steiner’s work, many questions arise which warrant further research, where Rudolf Steiner only suggests a direction in which the subject may be carried forward. This can be seen especially in the field of anthroposophical Christology. In researching this subject the many questions which arise can lead to one being confronted with either contradictions or unresolvable problems, but on studying the work again later, these may suddenly become clear, resulting in completely new and surprising perspectives. Some of these new perspectives will be found in And the Earth becomes a Sun.

'The animals are as much God's children as we are, so they are our brothers and sisters' - St Francis of Assisi. Respected surgeon and medical doctor, Werner Hartinger investigates the claims and counterclaims concerning experimentation on animals. Through meticulous analysis he comes to the conclusion that animal experiments are not only unnecessary, but that the experiments themselves are questionable and lead to meaningless results. The cruelty imposed upon animals is therefore not only gratuitous, he argues, but is unhelpful in the development of good medicine for human beings. Hartinger writes from many years' experience within the medical profession, and with ample scientific data to back his findings. He also tackles the spiritual aspect of this question, inspired by the work of the Austrian philosopher Rudolf Steiner. Painting on a vast canvas, he demonstrates the sibling relationship between humans and animals in the context of cosmic and spiritual evolution. The author gives a commentary on Christian teachings regarding animals, examining the biblical commandments. He also studies the varieties of diseases and their causes, and the hidden aspects of sickness and health.

Today's medicine is strongly influenced by natural science, which focuses entirely on the material nature of reality. Molecular biology has become the foundation of modern medicine with the result that today's medical industry chases after technology to solve all its problems. In the process it is losing its own essence as it moves into fields increasingly alien to human nature as a whole.

Nevertheless, many doctors are beginning to reexamine this exclusive worldview in favor of a more wholistic approach to healing. To this end, anthroposophical medicine encompasses a wide range of healing modalities, including orthodox, allopathic medicine.

The Anthroposophical Approach to Medicine explores the body's relationship to soul and spirit on the basis of Rudolf Steiner's insights into the activities of the spiritual world. Edited by doctors Friedrich Husemann and Otto Wolff, this book invites us to an in-depth view of a true alternative to materialistically oriented medicine. Chapters include essays on childhood development and diseases; the disorders of old age; neuroses and psychological imbalances; pharmacology; healing plants; biochemistry and pathology; blood-work; and special diagnostic techniques.

This first of a multi-volume series is an invaluable tool to all who want to extend the practice of medicine to include the whole human being.

15 Anthroposophical Society as a Michael Community, The On the Word ‘We’ in the Foundation Stone Meditation
MACKAY, PAUL
1906999546 / 9781906999544 2013
What lies spiritually and cosmically at the foundation of a community like the Anthroposophical Society? In wrestling with this question, I have come to the inner conviction that it is justified to speak of the Anthroposophical Society as a Michael community.’ - Paul Mackay
How can one understand Rudolf Steiner’s use of the word ‘we’ in the last part of the Foundation Stone Meditation (‘What we found from our hearts and direct from our heads with focused will’)? What characterizes this ‘we’?
In the first part of this original and inspiring work, Paul Mackay takes this question as a point of departure, developing a unique approach to working with the seven rhythms of the Meditation. Based on personal experiences, he comes to the conclusion that the rhythms are an expression of the members of the human constitution, with the ‘we’ in the fifth rhythm having the quality of ‘Spirit-self’. The second part of the book considers the same ‘we’ from a karmic perspective, with reference to Rudolf Steiner’s karma lectures, events in the fourth and ninth centuries, the mystery of death and evil, and the restoration of karmic truth.

PAUL MACKAY, born 1946 in Hong Kong, studied economics in the Netherlands and business administration in France. After working in international finance, he met and studied Anthroposophy in England and Germany between 1974 and 1977. From 1977 until 2012 he was active in anthroposophical banking, as co-founder and Executive Director of Triodos Bank in the Netherlands, and then Executive Director of GLS Bank in Germany, and later Chairman of its supervisory Board. As of March 2012 he is President of the Board of Directors of Weleda AG in Switzerland. In 1996 Paul Mackay joined the Executive Council of the General Anthroposophical Society at the Goetheanum, Switzerland. In 2000 he additionally became leader of the Section for Social Sciences of the School of Spiritual Science.

In these advanced lectures, given to a group of doctors and medical students, Dr. Steiner gives new insights into the processes of health and illness in the human organism, elaborating on the substances and processes which treat illness. This is difficult material, recommended for readers with some familiarity with the subject.

<B>Anthroposophy </B><I> A Concise Introduction to Rudolf Steiner's Spiritual Philosophy</I>, OORT, HENK VAN
17 Anthroposophy A Concise Introduction to Rudolf Steiner's Spiritual Philosophy
OORT, HENK VAN
1902636929 / 9781902636924 2008 Paperback
People today recognise Rudolf Steiner's work largely because of initiatives such as the worldwide Waldorf school movement, biodynamic agriculture, and anthroposophic medicine. Nevertheless, the comprehensive spiritual philosophy behind these movements is not so well known. In this concise presentation, based on years of teaching introductory courses on the subject, van Oort presents an overview of key aspects of Steiner's thought. He deals with concepts such as body, soul, and spirit; the relationship between humankind and the animal kingdom; and the evolution of consciousness, a topic that opens panoramic vistas of human development in the form of successive cultural periods extending over thousands of years.

Henk van Oort, born in 1943, trained as a primary teacher before earning a Masters degree in English at the Amsterdam University. He has taught for forty years in primary and secondary education, including class teaching in a Waldorf school, teaching English, and leading educational courses and seminars for teachers and parents. His interest in literature and poetry has led to his appearance at storytelling and poetry seminars, and his introductory courses to Anthroposophy have been highly successful. Based in Bergen N.H. in the Netherlands, Henk van Oort is married and the father of three.

18 Anthroposophy A-Z A Glossary of Terms Relating to Rudolf Steiner's Spiritual Philosophy
OORT, HENK VAN
1855842645 / 9781855842649 2011 Paperback
Rudolf Steiner’s spiritual philosophy is the inspiration for many successful initiatives in the world today, from the international Steiner Waldorf school movement to biodynamic agriculture and its increasingly popular produce. Steiner developed his philosophy in dozens of books and many thousands of lectures. His teaching contains dozens of new concepts and ideas, and as a result he had often to create his own vocabulary. In this practical volume - a companion to his Anthroposophy, A Concise Introduction - Henk van Oort gives concise definitions of many terms and concepts in Steiner’s worldview, from the most commonplace to the more obscure.

Anthroposophy A-Z can be used as a reference guide, but also as a gateway into Rudolf Steiner’s manifold world of spiritual ideas and concepts. Anthroposophy can be seen to be a new language - a language that can lead to the world of the spirit. It was with this awareness that Henk van Oort took the initiative to write this glossary. Ultimately, he has written the sort of inspiring handbook that he wished had existed when he first became acquainted with anthroposophy over 40 years ago.

HENK VAN OORT, born in 1943, trained as a primary teacher before taking a Masters degree in English at the Amsterdam University. He has taught for 40 years in primary and secondary education, including class teaching in a Steiner school, teaching English, and running educational courses and seminars for teachers and parents. His interest in literature and poetry has led to his appearance at storytelling and poetry seminars, and his introductory courses to anthroposophy have proved to be highly successful. Based in Bergen N.H. in the Netherlands, Henk van Oort is married and the father of three grown-up children. He is the author of Anthroposophy, A Concise Introduction.

19 Anthroposophy and the Inner Life An Esoteric Introduction
STEINER, RUDOLF
Paperback
GA234
Although these nine lectures were given to an audience that had been studying anthroposophy, or spiritual science, for many years, they were nevertheless described by Rudolf Steiner as an ‘introductory course’. Given shortly after the Christmas Foundation Meeting, in which Rudolf Steiner refounded and renewed the Anthroposophical Society, these lectures reformulate the content of spiritual science from a condensed, personal, experiential point of view. What Steiner presented in his fundamental work Theosophy in a descriptive, systematic way, is complemented here with great intensity, challenging us to cultivate a living experience of the spiritual nature of ourselves and of the world. This volume is therefore an invaluable companion to the book Theosophy.
Given the unique nature of these lectures, they are suitable for both the advanced student and the beginner who wishes to embark on an exploration, however tentative, of the vast range of Rudolf Steiner’s work.

'I asked Rudolf Steiner: "What will remain of your work thousands of years from now?" He replied: "Nothing but the Philosophy of Freedom. But in it everything else is contained. If one realizes the act of freedom described there, one can discover the whole content of Anthroposophy."' - Walter Johannes Stein

Some people's path to anthroposophy leads them directly to Rudolf Steiner's early work and The Philosophy of Freedom, and this becomes the philosophical basis for their future exploration. Rudolf Steiner referred to this as a 'safe' approach. But many people's destiny leads them directly to anthroposophy itself, or via one of its practical initiatives, making it difficult sometimes for them to relate to the cognitive basis of anthroposophy. In this unique study Sergei O. Prokofieff offers fresh means of access to Rudolf Steiner's crucially important book, The Philosophy of Freedom.

Prokofieff indicates why The Philosophy of Freedom is so important to anthroposophy. It is here that Rudolf Steiner lays the foundations for his method of research. In Steiner's own words: "One who is willing can indeed find the basic principles of anthroposophy in my Philosophy of Freedom". Prokofieff discusses the Christian nature of the anthroposophical method of cognition, and how it is integrally related to freedom and love. This in turn reveals the deeply Christian roots of The Philosophy of Freedom and its importance for modern Christian esotericism. In fact, says Prokofieff, the book holds a 'central position ... in the spiritual history of the Occident'.

In considering its multifaceted 'cosmic-human dimension', the author discusses The Philosophy of Freedom in relation to the Mystery of the Resurrection, the Working of the Hierarchies, the Being Anthroposophia, the Fifth Gospel, Rudolf Steiner's Path of Initiation, the Rosicrucian and Michaelic Impulses, the Life Between Death and Rebirth, the Foundation Stone, the Christian Mysteries of Karma and the Science of the Grail.

SERGEI O. PROKOFIEFF, born in Moscow in 1954, studied painting and art history at the Moscow School of Art. He encountered anthroposophy in his youth, and soon made the decision to devote his life to it. He has been active as an author and lecturer since 1982, and in 1991 he co-founded the Anthroposophical Society in Russia. In Easter 2001 he became a member of the Executive Council of the General Anthroposophical Society in Dornach. Anthroposophy and The Philosophy of Freedom is his twenty-first book to appear in English translation.
