Anthroposophy and the Inner Life An Esoteric Introduction, STEINER, RUDOLF
1 Anthroposophy and the Inner Life An Esoteric Introduction
1855844176 / 9781855844179 Paperback
Although these nine lectures were given to an audience that had been studying anthroposophy, or spiritual science, for many years, they were nevertheless described by Rudolf Steiner as an ‘introductory course’. Given shortly after the Christmas Foundation Meeting, in which Rudolf Steiner refounded and renewed the Anthroposophical Society, these lectures reformulate the content of spiritual science from a condensed, personal, experiential point of view. What Steiner presented in his fundamental work Theosophy in a descriptive, systematic way, is complemented here with great intensity, challenging us to cultivate a living experience of the spiritual nature of ourselves and of the world. This volume is therefore an invaluable companion to the book Theosophy.
Given the unique nature of these lectures, they are suitable for both the advanced student and the beginner who wishes to embark on an exploration, however tentative, of the vast range of Rudolf Steiner’s work.

Introduction: "Rudolf Steiner’s Faust," by Frederick Amrine
Goethe, the great German polymath poet, scientist, dramatist, and novelist, was a major influence throughout Steiner’s life and teaching. While still a student, Steiner wrote introductions to Goethe’ scientific writings (1884–1890), the collection of which became volume 1 in his Collected Works. He also wrote two volumes on Goethe’s epistemology (1886) and philosophy (1894). As he moved closer to the esoteric world, he also gave seminal lectures on Goethe’s fairy tale, “The Green Snake and the Beautiful Lily.” Gradually, he finally approach Goethe’s masterwork, the epic (and deeply esoteric) drama, Faust.

This book contains fifteen lectures, given between 1910 and 1916. A companion volume (CW 273, forthcoming) contains thirteen more lectures given between 1916 and 1919. Taken together these two volumes illuminate in deeply esoteric ways both Anthroposophy and Goethe’s own astonishing vision; the first volume focusing more on anthroposophy, the second more on Faust.

Beginning with ten short extracts that span twenty years (from the 1880s to 1909), the first lecture sets the tone—Goethe sought spiritual science, Faust is the record of his striving, and we are led to see how Goethe’s great drama is filled with embryonic insights that developed and became Anthroposophy. This theme is then developed, in lecture after lecture, with ever-deepening focus. Whether it is a question of the spiritual nature of matter, the reverence for truth and knowledge, reincarnation, the Mystery of Golgotha, evil, the nature of the elemental world, aesthetics, the challenge of our times, human destiny and the nature evolution, these lectures show Goethe as the great initiate and develop Anthroposophy—Spiritual Science—in a profoundly esoteric light.

Not previously published in English, this volume has been awaited by many. It is essential reading for anyone interested in Rudolf Steiner and spiritual science.

This book is volume 272 in the Collected Works (CW) of Rudolf Steiner, published by SteinerBooks, 2013. It is a translation of the German Geisteswissenschaftliche Erläuterungen zu Goethes Faust. Band I Faust der Strebende Mensch (Novalis-Verlag Verlag, Freiburg im Breisgau, 1955).

Apocalypse, the Transformation of Earth An Esoteric Mineralogy, BENESCH, FRIEDRICH, PREFACE BY ROBERT SARDELLO
3 Apocalypse, the Transformation of Earth An Esoteric Mineralogy
1584201657 / 9781584201656 2015 1st Edition Paperback / softback
48 colour illustrations
Then I saw “a new Heaven and a new Earth,” for the first heaven and the first Earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” (Rev. 21:1-4)
In the Revelation of St. John, spiritual worlds and spiritual entities appear both in images of the sensory world and in images of the mineral realm. This book discusses these two sides of world manifestation.
It is often argued that the images of St. John's Revelations are intended in a purely symbolic way. If this is so, the mineral appears as a symbol for something of a soul-like and spiritual nature. The Revelator however, did not see symbols but realities; even a symbol can be genuine only if something of the reality for which it stands shines through. It must, in a real way, be inwardly identical with what it intends, the essence from which it stems. Thus it must arise from the same reality. Otherwise it contains no meaning.
The images of the minerals in the Apocalypse are just as much reality as the minerals are on Earth. Neither is essential; both are simply manifestations of something essential. Hence, both are truly apocalyptic - the mineral we hold in our hand and the image we hold in our mind. They reveal themselves mutually.
This book juxtaposes the objects of sensory appearance and natural-scientific research with the sayings of the Revelation of St. John to express the joint background of the appearances. One connected with the other can then lead to an encounter with the essence. Thus, we are dealing with an “esoteric mineralogy.
Friedrich Benesch enables a renewed encounter between the human being and mineral being, from which essence and future can then shine forth. Anyone wanting to look more deeply into the Book of Revelations should read this beautifully illustrated, unique work on its meaning and its significance for both today and the future of humankind and the Earth.

Archangel Michael, The His Mission and Ours, STEINER, RUDOLF, BAMFORD, CHRISTOPHER
4 Archangel Michael, The His Mission and Ours
0880103787 / 9780880103787 1994 Paperback
"The Michael age has dawned. Hearts begin to have thoughts. Enthusiasm no longer flows from mystical obscurity, but from the inner clarity that thought conveys. To grasp this is to receive Michael into one's soul. Thoughts that today seek to grasp the spirit must spring from hearts that beat for Michael as the fiery cosmic prince of thought." Rudolf Steiner

For centuries, the tradition of the "mystical chronology" of the world's seven Archangelic Regents has been part of Western esoteric teaching. According to this tradition, 1879 marked the return of the solar spirit Michael - the Archangel of the Sun - to oversee earthly evolution. Steiner always placed his life and work in the service of Michael's evolutionary task. And he recognized that, at the beginning of the twentieth century, humanity emerged from the Kali Yuga, or Dark Age, and entered the Age of Light. Against this background, Steiner described the ascent of Michael as cosmic ruler, his battle with the "dragon" of the spirits of darkness, and his roles as the countenance of Christ and the guardian of cosmic intelligence.
He also gave many profound indications of how Michael's evolutionary task depends on the free and independent collaboration of human co-workers.

Speaking on behalf of Michael, Steiner laid out the essentials for a new Michaelic path to full humanity. Among the elements of this path are the development of selfless individuality; cosmopolitanism; the practice of the presence of Christ; fearlessness; the transformation of thinking and perception in a new synthesis of science, art, and religion; the spiritualization of space; and the separation of thought from language. This volume gathers Rudolf Steiner's most important statements on this subject, making it a primary source for dealing with today's political, social, psychological, and spiritual crises.

Attack of the Enemy
The Occult Inspiration Behind Adolf Hitler and the Nazis
An Esoteric Study, TAUTZ, JOHANNES
5 Attack of the Enemy
The Occult Inspiration Behind Adolf Hitler and the Nazis
An Esoteric Study

1906999716 / 9781906999711 Paperback
The time of Nazi dictatorship in Germany (1933-45) consistently stimulates more interest than any other period of human history, as witnessed by the countless books and other media on Adolf Hitler and his leading henchmen. What is the basis for this enduring fascination? And, does the abundance of available material help us truly to understand the phenomenon?
In this clear-sighted study, Tautz concludes that there is an existential need for the human psyche to come to terms with the forces of destruction that broke out during the era of National Socialism. In an attempt to get to the essence of the phenomenon, he employs the method of ‘historical symtomatology’, as developed by the philosopher and scientist Rudolf Steiner. Through these means, ‘... the historical process is perceived as the physiognomic expression of spiritual forces’. By viewing events as symptoms, the outer facts become transparent to the hidden influences that lie behind them, and occult aspects are revealed.
Tautz focuses on the degenerate elements that inspired National Socialism – their meaning, nature and methods – and examines their manifestation in earthly events. He reveals the spiritual context in which these adversary, opposing forces erupted and attacked humanity – at a time when human consciousness had stepped over a new threshold. The Nazi functionaries and their spectral leader, whom he refers to as ‘the Medium’, willingly served these powers, whilst the bedazzled masses were largely passive. If we are serious about developing an egalitarian society today that corresponds to the present level of human evolution, he argues, we need to understand this period of tyranny in Germany at the deepest levels.
In addition to Tautz’s classic text, a new Appendix by Andreas Bracher brings the reader up to date with a survey of relevant literature on the theme as well as an insightful review of the Nazis’ attitude to Rudolf Steiner and the anthroposophical movement he founded. Contemporary extracts from the Völkische Beobachter (the Nazi’s house journal) indicate the viciousness and hatred directed towards Steiner and anthroposophy by the National Socialists.
JOHANNES TAUTZ – author, historian, religious scholar, anthroposophist and Waldorf teacher (at the first Steiner school in Stuttgart, Germany) – was born in 1914 in Koblenz. He studied German and History, graduating with a dissertation on Schelling. The author of W.J. Stein, A Biography, he lived in Darmstadt, Germany until his death in 2008.

Barefoot through the Burning Lava On Sicily, the Island of Cain – An Esoteric Travelogue, MERYER, T H
6 Barefoot through the Burning Lava On Sicily, the Island of Cain – An Esoteric Travelogue
1906999945 / 9781906999940
Drawn by the mysterious mount Etna, Thomas Meyer sets off on a quest to discover the secrets of the Mediterranean islands of Sicily and Stromboli. The Sicilian region is not only famous for the drama of its live volcanoes, but also for its associations with numerous cultural figures – ranging from Cain, Empedocles, Klingsor and the much maligned Cagliostro, through to Goethe and Rudolf Steiner. The author ponders their lives, work and karmic connections, whilst unexpected meetings with cryptic strangers result in discussions that are filled with spiritual insights and pearls of wisdom.

Meyer’s travelogue is at once engaging, poetic and deeply esoteric, drawing parallels between the burning lava of Etna and Stromboli and the soul lava through which our spiritual feet must wade in the present day. In meditations on the Guardian of the Threshold and the explosive popularity of football, we are led to the conclusion that today human beings need to develop ‘spiritual feet’ to cross the boundary to higher worlds. The author’s final trip coincides with the recent natural catastrophe in Nepal, which prompts him to ask whether humanity can begin to take inner responsibility for the many such disasters – particularly earthquakes and volcanic eruptions – that take place around the world. For these natural calamities, says Meyer, are intimately related to our untamed passions and emotions.

T.H. MEYER was born in Switzerland in 1950. He is the founder and publisher of Perseus Verlag, Basel, and editor of the monthly journals Der Europäer and The Present Age. He is the author of several books including Milestones; In the Sign of Five; Ludwig Polzer-Hoditz, A Biography; D.N. Dunlop, A Biography; Rudolf Steiner’s Core Mission; The Bodhisattva Question; Clairvoyance and Consciousness and Reality, Truth and Evil. He is also the editor of Light for the New Millennium. Meyer has written numerous articles and gives seminars and lectures around the world.

Becoming Aware of the Logos The Way of St. John the Evangelist, KUHLEWIND, GEORG
7 Becoming Aware of the Logos The Way of St. John the Evangelist
0940262096 / 9780940262096 Paperback
“A single human being has no reality; the existence of ‘man’ begins with the word that floats between I and you. The Logos connects human beings through the Word; all else is temptation or a temporary connection.” — Georg Kühlewind
“To become aware of the Logos is to become aware of the Logos in oneself.... The world speaks. Before all else, it utters speaking itself. Or does speaking utter the world.” So begin the first two chapters of this inspired, existential meditation on the contemporary meaning of the message of St. John: “In the beginning was the Word.”

Through this Word—Logos—all things became. In it was life, the light of human beings. It shown I the darkness, and the darkness received it not. It was in the world, and the world did not know it. It entered individual being, and, to those who received it, it gave the ability to become the children of God. Its radiance was seen, full of grace and truth.

The fruit of many years of study and meditation, Becoming Aware of the Logos places the reader in the world of living thinking and cognitive love. It teaches the way of grace and truth in a radical, original manner. For the Logos, although it is the ground of any true logic, is beyond ordinary dialectic. The author does not approach his subject conventionally, but penetrates and communicates it by unfolding central themes such as: the Logos in the beginning; the light in the darkness; the speaker; life; spirit; grace; and truth.
Georg Kühlewind (1924–2006) was a Hungarian philosopher, writer, lecturer, and meditation teacher who worked from the tradition of Rudolf Steiner’s spiritual science. Setting aside his early interest in music and psychology, he pursued a successful professional career as a physical chemist. Meanwhile, he continued to deepen his spiritual practice and insights. A prolific author (most of whose works are still only in German), Georg Kühlewind spent much time traveling the world, lecturing and leading workshops and seminars in meditation, psychology, epistemology, child development, anthroposophy, and esoteric Christianity. He was the author of numerous books. Kühlewind died January 15, 2006 at the age of 83.

Bees Nine Lectures on the Nature of Bees, STEINER, RUDOLF, BRAATZ, THOMAS, ADAMS, DAVID
8 Bees Nine Lectures on the Nature of Bees
0880104570 / 9780880104579 1998 Paperback
13 b&w illustrations
In 1923 Rudolf Steiner predicted the dire state of today's honeybee. He stated that, within fifty to eighty years, we would see the consequences of mechanizing the forces that had previously operated organically in the beehive. Such practices include breeding queen bees artificially.

The fact that over sixty percent of the American honeybee population has died during the past ten years, and that this trend is continuing around the world, should make us aware of the importance of the issues discussed in these lectures. Steiner began this series of lectures on bees in response to a question from an audience of workers at the Goetheanum.

From physical depictions of the daily activities of bees to the most elevated esoteric insights, these lectures describe the unconscious wisdom of the beehive and its connection to our experience of health, culture, and the cosmos.

Bees is essential reading for anyone interested in understanding the true nature of the honeybee, as well as those who wish to heal the contemporary crisis of the beehive. Bees includes an essay by David Adams, "From Queen Bee to Social Sculpture: The Artistic Alchemy of Joseph Beuys".

The art and social philosophy of Joseph Beuys (1921–1986) is among the most influential of the twentieth century. He was strongly influenced by Rudolf Steiner's lectures on bees. The elemental imagery and its relationship to human society played an important role in Beuys's sculptures, drawings, installations, and performance art. Adams' essay on Beuys adds a whole new dimension to these lectures, generally considered to be directed more specifically to biodynamic methods and beekeeping.

Beginnings of Christianity: Essene Mystery, Gnostic Revelation and the Christian Vision, WELBURN, ANDREW J.
9 Beginnings of Christianity: Essene Mystery, Gnostic Revelation and the Christian Vision
0863154484 / 9780863154485 2004 Paperback
Early Christianity had a powerful esoteric current. This is reflected in the New Testament writings of Mark, Paul and above all, John. Gnostic Christians tried to preserve this tradition, using the archaic mysteries as a way to knowledge (gnosis) of higher cosmic truths. But the Gnostic sects were finally suppressed by an orthodoxy which, Andrew Welburn concludes, had lost sight of the 'dynamic of the self'. The full scope of the traditions on which the Gnostics drew is clearer following the modern archaeological finds at Qumran and Nag Hammadi. As a result of these discoveries, the boundaries have started to fade between the ancient pagan mysteries, Jewish tradition, especially as found in the Essene sect, and early Christian belief. Welburn discovers a real kinship between this present age and the early Christians, and shows how, in a way not possible for the Reformation Church, we now have the change to rediscover the spiritual world and meaning of Christian beginnings.

Bhagavad Gita and the West The Esoteric Significance of the Bhagavad Gita and Its Relation to the Epistles of Paul, STEINER, RUDOLF
10 Bhagavad Gita and the West The Esoteric Significance of the Bhagavad Gita and Its Relation to the Epistles of Paul
0880106042 / 9780880106047 2008 Paperback
Steiner sees Krishna as a great spiritual teacher and the Bhagavad Gita as a preparation, though still abstract, for the coming of Christ and the Christ impulse as the living embodiment of the world, law, and devotion, represented by the three Hindu streams of Veda, Sankhya, and Yoga. For him, the epic poem of the Bhagavad Gita represents the fully ripened fruit of Hinduism, whereas Paul is related but represents the seed of something entirely new. In the last lecture, Steiner reveals Krishna as the sister soul of Adam, incarnated as Jesus, and claims Krishas Yoga teachings streamed from Christ into Paul.

11 Building Stones for an Understanding of the Mystery of Golgotha Human Life in a Cosmic Context (CW175)
1855844206 / 9781855844209
17 lectures, Berlin, Feb.–May. 1917, CW 175
‘If one is unable to conceive of the Christ mystery as a true reality, one also cannot develop any ideas and concepts relating to the rest of world existence that are imbued with reality, which really penetrate to the truth’. – Rudolf Steiner
In a series of 17 lectures, Rudolf Steiner throws new light on the historical background and esoteric meaning of what he refers to as the central event of human and earthly history: the Christ mystery or ‘the Mystery of Golgotha’. Basing his commentaries on personal spiritual research, Steiner emphasizes the key nature of the Mystery of Golgotha, through which ‘...something was accomplished which has to do not with the moral order alone but with the whole world-order in its entirety’. This relates to a transformation of the spiritual environment of the earth and a potentially radical change in human consciousness.
Building on the core themes of this course, Steiner presents a variety of fascinating topics, including: original sin and the idea of resurrection; faith and knowledge; the nature of sleep and the riddle of fatigue; the violation of the mysteries by the Roman Emperors; the teachings of Mani and Augustine; our relationship to the dead in spiritualistic séances; and the correspondence between the Platonic year, a day in a person’s life and a human life-time.
Although first delivered to audiences a century ago, these lectures have lost none of their resonance; indeed, their essential message is perhaps more relevant than ever. They are published here in a new translation and for the first time in a complete English edition.
‘So let us endeavour to make spiritual science our own not merely as a teaching but as a language, and then wait until we find the questions in this language that we may address to Christ. He will answer, yes He will answer!’

Butterflies Beings of Light, STEINER, RUDOLF, GUT, TAJA, BARTON, MATTHEW
12 Butterflies Beings of Light
1855843757 / 9781855843752 2013 Paperback
"The butterfly flutters above and over the earth, borne on the air and shimmering with light...We ought really to see them as nothing other than beings of light, joyous in their colours and the play of colours. All the rest is garment and luggage." - Rudolf Steiner Truly poetic and deeply esoteric, these lectures by Rudolf Steiner have been gathered here in a single volume for the first time, with an in-depth introduction that traces and explains the stages of butterfly metamorphosis. The emergence of the butterfly from its pupa is one of the most moving phenomena we can encounter in nature. In this creature's visible transformations, we can experience a revelation of spirit. The butterfly, says Rudolf Steiner, is "...a flower blossom lifted into the air by light and cosmic forces". It is a being that develops from and through light, via a process of incorporation and internalization. By gazing into the world of these special and rarefied creatures, we can intuit that they, "...ray out something even better than sunlight: they shine spirit light out into the cosmos".

13 Caesars and Apostles: Hellenism Rome and Judaism Hellenism, Rome and Judaism
0863152732 / 9780863152733 1998 Hardback
An unusual perspective on the cultural and political milieu in existence at the time of the emergence of Christianity. Events such as the Persian Wars are examined with a view to understanding the spiritual struggles raging between those forces that wished to promote a newly emerging human consciousness, based on independent thought and a growing sense of egocentricity; and those forces that wished to preserve the authoritarian structures of the past, which were rooted in now decadent mystery practices. In particular the role of Essenes receives prominence, given that Bock was writing prior to the discoveries of the Dead Sea Scrolls. In the second half of the book, Bock investigates the esoteric biographies of some of the key figures surrounding Jesus Christ, and demonstrates how their destinies were affected by the encounters with the being of Christ.

14 Caretakers of the Cosmos Living Responsibly in an Unfinished World
1782500022 / 9781782500025
Why are we here? Human beings have asked themselves this question for centuries. Modern science largely argues that human beings are chance products of a purposeless universe, but other traditions believe humanity has an essential role and responsibility in creation.

Lachman brings together many strands of esoteric, spiritual and philosophical thought to form a counter-argument to the nihilism that permeates the twenty-first century. Offering a radical alternative to postmodern apathy, he argues that we humans are indeed the 'caretakers' of the universe, entrusted with a daunting task: that of healing and repairing creation itself.

This is an important book from a key thinker of our time, addressing some of the most urgent questions facing humanity.

Christ and the Disciples The Destiny of an Inner Community, SELG, PETER, CREEGER, CATHERINE E
15 Christ and the Disciples The Destiny of an Inner Community
0880107456 / 9780880107457 2011 Paperback / softback
"Occult events that took place between the Christ and the community of his disciples form a significant part not only of the four Gospels but also of the Christ Mystery or Golgotha Mystery itself. Today, many human souls are still moved by this apostolic community, by how the disciples accompanied Christ Jesus, by their place in history (as an esoteric circle charged with an exoteric task), by their failures, and by the great new dawn that showed them the way after Pentecost...For three years, they were close to Christ, shared his life, and received a great deal of instruction from him, often in their own intimate circle away from public view. They were there when Christ performed healings and even when he prayed...."Rudolf Steiner once said that we in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries must live with the 'etheric Christ' in the Earth's aura in the same way that 'the disciples once lived with Christ Jesus on the physical plane.' If this is so, it is essential for us to focus on the community of Christ's disciples. Rudolf Steiner himself made major contributions to illuminating the depths of the disciples' relationship and life with the Christ, both during the three years of his earthly life and after the Resurrection. An essential element of Steiner's life work was to apply 'anthroposophically oriented cognition' to events of the beginning of the Christian era in order to 'bring the Gospels' deeper content to the light of day.' He spoke in detail about the Christ's community of disciples in many lecture cycles, and, in his lectures on the Fifth Gospel, he shed light on this community from the perspective of the processes of human consciousness that were intimately involved in events at the beginning of the new era and inscribed in the chronicle of evolution...."In his lectures on the Fifth Gospel and elsewhere, Rudolf Steiner opened up many perspectives that help us understand what took place between Christ and his disciples. This book's purpose is to make those perspectives available and accessible. Although all of Steiner's statements have been published, they are widely scattered among his lectures and remain unknown to many individuals deeply committed to the community of Christ's disciples and to anthroposophical Christology. In view of the challenges to consciousness we face in modern times-including those that deal with Christianity and the Christ Event itself-it seems urgently important to present details of the positive and often illuminating results of Rudolf Steiner's research."As is true of other works by Peter Selg, Christ and the Disciples is one of those books that sharpens the reader's mind to cut through the myriad of representation (and misrepresentations) of Rudolf Steiner's teachings, clarifying many otherwise-knotty issues.

Christianity and the Ancient Mysteries: Reflections on Rudolf Steiner's Christianity as Mystical Fact, CHARLES KOVACS
17 Christianity and the Ancient Mysteries: Reflections on Rudolf Steiner's Christianity as Mystical Fact
1782504478 / 9781782504474
NEW!! Published Feb 2018
In 1902 Steiner wrote Christianity as Mystical Fact and the Mysteries of Antiquity, showing the evolutionary development from the ancient mysteries, through the great Greek philosophers, to the events portrayed in the gospels. Steiner saw the Christ event as the turning point in the world's spiritual history -- an incarnation whose significance he saw as transcending all religions.

Charles Kovacs brings his deep knowledge of esoteric writings, mythology and Steiner's lectures to give more background and to show how the way for Christianity was prepared in the ancient pre-Christian mysteries of Egypt and Greece. He discusses the symbolic and real events of the gospels, as well as looking at some of the understandings and disputes of the early Christians.

The book is illustrated with Kovacs' own colour paintings.

The Chymical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreutz is one of the most important writings of esoteric Christianity, first published anonymously in German in 1616. It is an allegorical story divided into seven journeys about how Christian Rosenkreutz was invited to a castle to assist the 'chymical wedding' of the king and queen. 'Chymical' is an old form of the word chemical and refers to alchemy, whose aim is the uniting of opposites - hence, the sacred wedding.

It is a book concerned with the inner transformation of the soul. Bastiaan Baan's interpretation and commentary makes this work accessible to readers of today, and shows the special language Andreae used to express the meditative content of his text. He delves deep to uncover the original significance, combining images and concepts from alchemy with insights from Rudolf Steiner's teachings. He concludes that the content is as valuable today as it was hundreds of years ago.

The book contains the complete text of the Chymical Wedding.

Johann Valetin Andreae (1586-1654) was a German theologian who was probably the author of The Chymical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreutz, one of the three founding works of Rosicrucianism.

Bastiaan Baan worked as a teacher in the Netherlands before being ordained in 1981. He was a Christian Community priest in the Netherlands and is currently director of the priests' seminary in Spring Valley, NY. He lectures widely, and has written many books.

19 Color Its Relationship to Soul and Spirit
0945803613 / 9780945803614 2003
For painters and anyone interested in a deeper understanding of the nature of color.

This book highlights the amazing depth of knowing that lies behind the beautiful paintings of watercolorist Liane Collot d'Herbois, whose application of the color theories of Rudolf Steiner and J. W. von Goethe, together with her overall understanding of anthroposophical principles, are very much in evidence in her paintings. Schroff delves into the mysteries of color, light, and darkness from artistic, scientific, and esoteric perspectives. With a detailed 'how to' section on the specifics of the Collot watercolor technique, this edition, expanded from her earlier book, contains illustrations in color of paintings by both Collot and Schroff and an extensive bibliography to encourage further research.

Topics discussed include: Soul and Spirit; Light, Color, and Darkness; Philosophy and the Painter's Art; Laws of Color; Atmosphere and the Movement of Color; Prism Exercises; Rainbows, Refractions, and Reversals; Intervals and After-Images; Collot Painting Therapy; and Meditations.

Lois Schroff has been teaching and painting in this method since 1977, following extensive studies with Liane Collot d'Herbois.

Colors of the Soul Physiological and Spiritual Qualities of Light and Dark, KLOCEK, DENNIS
20 Colors of the Soul Physiological and Spiritual Qualities of Light and Dark
1584209607 / 9781584209607 Paperback
Illustrated: 48 in colour
The subject of color is a very important aspect of life and healing, especially healing what we could call the split in the world created by ordinary dualistic human perception. Rudolf Steiner speaks about this split in various different ways with a kind of “hidden” language, making it sometimes difficult to understand the fundamental idea. In this book, Dennis Klocek presents a kind of meditation on many different aspects of color and how we can work with the alchemical principles of Jachin and Boaz—the two pillars of Solomon’s Temple, representing the red and blue in the blood—to understand the Rosicrucian path in terms of color and healing.

Using many examples from natural- and spiritual-scientific research into color and the rise of various color theories through history, Klocek zeros in on the real essence of colors and how they relate to us as human beings in our physical body and soul. From Newton to Rudolf Steiner, as well as several centuries of artistic development of color and pigments, we learn to perceive in new ways that can both heal and help us work and play with color in new ways. The author also connects what we learn about color to healing with artistic therapies, homeopathy, and flower essences.

Colors of the Soul is illustrated in color, featuring numerous helpful diagrams and examples of art from the Middle Ages to the twentieth century. Like the author’s books on physiology, climate, and agriculture, this book brings knowledge and surprising insights to the nature of color, a topic that is integral to our everyday life and development.

DENNIS KLOCEK is a teacher, researcher, artist, gardener, and alchemist. He received an MFA in 1975 from Temple University’s Tyler School of Art. He taught for seven years at a community college before joining Rudolf Steiner College in Sacramento, where he has been the director of their Consciousness Studies Program (“Goethean Studies??) since 1992. Dennis is engaged in research, teaching, and writing in many fields, including weather, gardening, meditation, the human organism, and self-transformation. He founded the Coros Institute to teach and promote dialogue experiences based on esoteric wisdom. Dennis Klocek’s books include Climate: Soul of the Earth (2011); The Seer’s Handbook (2004); Sacred Agriculture (2013); Knowledge,Teaching and the Death of the Mysterious (2000); Drawing from the Book of Nature (2000); and Seeking Spirit Vision (2004).
