Art and Human Consciousness, RICHTER, GOTTFRIED AND OBERHUBER, KONRAD
1 Art and Human Consciousness
RICHTER, GOTTFRIED AND OBERHUBER, KONRAD
0880104783 / 9780880104784 Paperback
This survey of western art from ancient Egypt to Picasso looks at visual art in a completely new and imaginative way. Gottfried Richter’s lively and penetrating observations will inspire and enthuse the novice, while breathing new life into the thinking of art critics and historians.

Richter concerns himself broadly with architecture, sculpture, and painting—as well as mythology and legend—in presenting the creations of artist and architect as an expression of the evolution of human consciousness. In vivid images he offers the reader interpretive keys to understand this process in all areas of art history.

With many examples the author illustrates how human life has undergone a qualitative transformation as humanity has gradually freed itself from a life determined by spiritual guidance in order to take hold of the sensory world and experience free individuality.

Auroral Glow, MAREK
2 Auroral Glow
MAREK

The title for this album emerged from musing over the Spirit of Australia. Just as Australia sits ``Underneath the Southern Cross``, the Spirit of Australia is nourished and coaxed out of a fine fabric of light/spirit wisdom - the Auroral Glow. For me angelic beings gently gesture in the subtle Auroral light show and inspire all the stories on this album. - Marek

Cosmic Music, GODWIN, JOSCELYN
4 Cosmic Music
GODWIN, JOSCELYN
089281070X / 9780892810703 1989 Paperback
Illustrations The idea that the universe is created out of sound or music (and therefore is music) is a very ancient one. In this book, Joscelyn Godwin brings together three contemporary German thinkers who exemplify this tradition in its modern variants: Marius Schneider, Rudolf Haase, and Hans Erhard Lauer. The selections draw on ancient Indian sources and mythology; Kepler's Platonic vision of a musical, geometric universe; and the evolution of the tone systems of music. While every music lover senses the power and truth that reside in music, very few actually approach music as a path to cosmic knowledge. Godwin takes literally Beethoven's assertion that "Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom or philosophy." Godwin writes, ." . .to penetrate the mysteries of music is to prepare for initiation into those fathomless mysteries of man and cosmos."

Drawing Lesson with Rudolf Steiner, A & The Geometry of Shadow Movements, BEMELEN & BARAVALLE
5 Drawing Lesson with Rudolf Steiner, A & The Geometry of Shadow Movements
BEMELEN & BARAVALLE

When a child draws an object of nature, a tree, or a rock, for example, the child is experiencing nature itself. If solid, unbroken lines are used to represent the object, perception is fixed on something which isn’t really there. In reality, we perceive visual images as gradations of shade and color, never as the distinct outlines we commonly use to draw with.
The techniques given in these two lessons allow a child to have a different and truer relationship to the physical world.

Hermann Gross: Art and Soul, JACKSON, ROBIN
8 Hermann Gross: Art and Soul
JACKSON, ROBIN
0863156525 / 9780863156526 Paperback
Hermann Gross (1904-88) would probably be one of the most recognised German Expressionist painters today if it were not for one detail: in 1963, to the bewilderment of his friends, he left the artistic hubs of Paris and Berlin and became an artist-in-residence at a Camphill community in Aberdeen, in the north of Scotland.

This book should bring long-overdue recognition to this most talented of artists. It traces Gross's early life and career as he learned the technical skills of a sculptor, painter, silversmith and stained glass maker under some of the most eminent masters in Europe, including Haustein, Raemisch and Wlérick and, in Paris, Picasso. His work for the Nazi propaganda machine during the war is examined, along with his time in America.

It was during his many years at Camphill, however, that Gross's art matured, and this book includes fifteen colour plates of his most important work. Throughout, he remained true to the German Expressionist roots of communicating a compelling message relevant to contemporary society.

3905681412 / 9783905681413 Hardback
C. G. Jung, the important explorer of the human psyche and founder of Analytical Psychology, lived and worked in his home in Küsnacht on Lake Zürich from 1908 to 1961, along with his wife, Emma Jung-Rauschenbach, whose wisdom was the heart of the house where they raised their five children.

A hundred years after it was built and following the completion of renovation, this house is represented in this lavishly illustrated record, published to document the creation of the property on Lake Zurich and its transformation since then. The House of C. G. Jung captures its previous and present states in text and images.

This volume is an architectural portrait of a truly unique home, as well as a commemoration of its original builders and owners.

Includes 160 illustrations, many in color.

Music the Healer, MASSELOS MARY
16 Music the Healer
MASSELOS MARY
0958109001 / 9780958109000
Mary Masselos has always had a special touch when it comes to music.
At the age of four a violin was placed in her hands and as she moved up her first scale, a feeling of great happiness suffused her. By 14, Mary was studying at the Conservatorium of Music in Sydney and by her early twenties she was leading the violin section of the Tasmanian and subsequently the West Australian Symphony Orchestras.

Subsequently her extensive study of ancient wisdom and esoteric thought led her to develop the Seven tone Method of music healing.

This book contains descriptions of the method as well as many suggestions for therapeutic applications, exercises, and comments on the art of improvisation.

Included is a CD of the healing tones, played by Mary Masselos and orchestrated by Harvey Mann.
