2 Archetypal Imagination: Glimpses of the Gods in Life and Art
COBB, NOEL AND MOORE, THOMAS
0940262479 / 9780940262478 Paperback
This unique book is about freeing psychology's poetic imagination from the dead weight of unconscious assumptions about the soul. Whether we think of the soul scientifically or medically, behaviorally or in terms of inner development, all of us are used to thinking of it in an individual context, as something personal. In this book, however, we are asked to consider psychology from a truly transpersonal perspective as a cultural, universal-human phenomenon.

Cobb teaches us to look at the world as a record of the soul's struggles to awaken and as the soul's poetry. From this perspective, the real basis of the mind is poetic. Beauty, love, and creativity are as much instincts of the soul as sexuality or hunger. Cobb shows us how artists and mystics can teach us the meaning of love, death, and beauty, if only we can awaken to their creations. The exemplars here are Dante, Rumi, Rilke, Munch, Lorca, Schumann, and Tarkovsky.

A Personal Journey across Foreign Lands and Centuries with Insights from Spiritual Science

This book takes us on an epic journey throughout Africa, Western and Central Asia, and Europe to explore the lives, culture, and landscape of the Judaic, Christian, and Muslim worlds. Motivated by a yearning to learn about and understand the "other," regardless of culture and faith, the author invites us on her adventures to ancient cities, architectural masterpieces, stunning landscapes, and even a camelback expedition in the desert.

Marie-Laure Valandro shares her insights, joys, and inner struggles—and her human-to-human and down-to-earth encounters with the people she meets along the way—as she endeavors to move beyond mere tolerance, to a place of true understanding and respect for the other. Her words of wisdom, as well as the insights of anthroposophists, theologians, poets, and historians, help to decipher the mysteries behind Muslims, Christians, and Jews. Not only are we, too, brought to a new place of understanding and wonderment, but we are also inspired to embark on our own journey of discovery.

Despite the explosion of books, videos and TV shows that claim to penetrate the mystery of "2012"-the numerical shorthand for the completion on December 21, 2012, of the thirteenth B'ak'tun cycle in the Long Count of the Maya calendar-consensus about its meaning seems to remain elusive. As metaphysical speculation mounts, professional astronomers and ethnologists dismiss the whole body of modern interpretations of the Mayan calendar as New Age gobbledygook. Among the supposed seers themselves-including Jose Arguelles, Carl Johann Calleman, and Daniel Pinchbeck-doctrinal disputes worthy of academics are now the norm. The scholars have every right to be miffed at the sometimes sloppy thinking and exaggerated claims of the seers, which tend toward enthusiastic proclamations of an imminent, universally accelerated psychic evolution, while the seers themselves have legitimate critiques about the limits of scientific inquiry when it comes to the prophetic traditions of ancient peoples. Christ and the Maya Calendar approaches the significance of 2012 by spiritually penetrating phenomena of today.
Drawing on the book of Revelation-which provides an archetype for understanding spiritual history, as well as on Rudolf Steiner's Apocalyptic indications, a completely new context for grasping the end date of the Maya calendar emerges. In a November 1919 lecture, Steiner made a stunning remark about Ahriman: "Ahriman skillfully prepares his goal beforehand ...[and] will find an important instrument for preparing his incarnation. His incarnation is undoubtedly coming, and this lack of insight will enable him to prepare it triumphantly." The subtitle of this book-"2012 and the Coming of the Antichrist"-refers to this coming incarnation of Ahriman. In fact, Steiner narrowed the timeline for Ahriman's incarnation, saying it would come "before even a small part of the third millennium has run its course." Just after Christmas 1919, Steiner revealed more about the impending incarnation of Ahriman, saying almost offhandedly that Ahriman's name might be "John William Smith." With this remark, he clearly pointed to the incarnation occurring in the English-speaking West, while other remarks made it is certain Steiner meant that the incarnation would take place in America.
In addition to penetrating the spiritual background of our time in relation to the coming of the Antichrist (the incarnation of Ahriman), the authors explore the significance of the Mexican mysteries and present a wealth of new research with the intention of helping the reader to navigate the Apocalyptic scenario currently shaping up, with the global financial crisis as one important expression. Most important, the authors refer to the Second Coming of Christ as the true event of our time; the incarnation of Satan/Ahriman is its shadow. The authors also show the significance of Divine Sophia as the antidote to negative consequences of Ahriman's incarnation. Finally, as a positive manifestation of the world of spirit in our time, the book discusses the significance of the young anthroposophist, Judith von Halle, who since Easter 2004 has born the stigmata, the visible signs of the wounds of Christ.

15 Coming to Our Senses Healing Ourselves and the World Through Mindfulness
KABAT-ZINN, JON
0749925884 / 9780749925888 2005 Paperback
Jon Kabat-Zinn, author of the widely praised Wherever You Go, There You Are shows how the power of mindfulness can bring profound changes to your personal life. As stress continues to exact a toll on everyday life, we are increasingly turning to ancient, meditative methods, which have been tested by science, to reduce stress and become more focused and healthy in our everyday lives. Jon Kabat-Zinn has been for decades at the forefront of the mind/body movement and the subsequent revolution in medicine and health care, both demystifying it and bringing it into the mainstream. In Coming To Our Senses, he shares his belief that every human has the capacity to mobilize deep, innate resources for continual learning, growing, healing and transformation through mindfulness. Woven into eight parts, Coming To Our Senses: Uses anecdotes and stories from Kabat-Zinn's own life experiences and work to illustrate the realm of healing possibilities: Offers a remarkable insight into how to use the five senses - touch, hearing, sight, taste, and smell - as a path to a healthier, saner, and more meaningful life.

Crisis of Western Philosophy Against Positivism, SOLOV'EV, VLADIMIR, JAKIM, B.
20 Crisis of Western Philosophy Against Positivism
SOLOV'EV, VLADIMIR, JAKIM, B.
0940262738 / 9780940262737 2008 Paperback
This book is the seminal work in which Solovyov developed his religious philosophy. In it, he undertakes a stunning critique of positivism, by which he understands the entire philosophy of Western rationalism, which he sees as setting up a conflict between reason and faith, and reason and nature. In the modern period, he finds abundant evidence for reason's war against nature in Western philosophy from Descartes to Hegel. 'Positivism', the leading philosophy in his time, Solovyov also finds repugnant. In its place, he proposes his great theme of total unity -- which was to become the dominant theme in Russian philosophy. This is the work that launched Russian religious philosophy and is a must for anyone interested in the subject.
